Happy Patriots’ Day.
While enjoying the running of the Boston Marathon, please remember why we celebrate this holiday. It is to commemorate the first battles of the Revolutionary War in Lexington and Concord in 1775.
Our Founding Fathers put their lives on the line because they wanted to end the tyranny of an all-too-powerful government and to empower people by giving them individual freedom. They did not risk everything to create a nation that offers freebies or to have the government treat us like children.
Looking back, I’m sure everyone believes that they would have been a patriot joining Sam Adams, John Hancock and others in fighting for our freedoms. However, your beliefs about our modern day government might show that you would have actually been with the British.
